William Petty, Director, Bonas Macfarlane gave an overview of the different approaches schools have taken to fees and payment during the Covid-19 crisis. David Quintrell & James Alder, Directors of Brewin Dolphin, discussed the merits of different financial strategies for parents looking to find ways to pay school fees.

In his role as an Educational Consultant, William has advised countless families from around the globe on gaining places at leading Independent Schools in the UK. He has been featured in publications including The Times, The Economist and Tatler and has appeared on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme. He will give an overview of the different approaches schools have taken to fees and payment during the Covid-19 crisis.



David joined Brewin Dolphin in 1998. His expertise covers a wide range of financial planning areas, including tax efficient investment, pension and retirement planning, investment planning, Inheritance Tax planning and trusts, and offshore investment. He holds the Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning, and is a Chartered Financial Planner. He is also a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI).



James began his career in financial services with the accountants Blackstone Franks before joining Advisory & Brokerage Services (A&B) in 1993. During his 15 years at A&B (which later became Origen) his team focused on the planning needs for high net worth clients. He holds the Diploma in Financial Planning (Dip PFS) and was made a Divisional Director in early 2013. James is responsible for providing clients with holistic financial planning advice and specialises in inheritance tax and retirement planning. He is also an affiliate member of STEP.
