Set within one hundred acres of lawns, lakes and woodland in the idyllic New Forest, Walhampton is an independent day, flexi and full-time boarding school for boys and girls aged 2-13 where academic excellence sits comfortably alongside a distinctive ‘Swallows and Amazons’ spirit.
With small class sizes and outstanding teaching, Walhampton pupils achieve consistently impressive academic results and around 40% attained scholarships to top senior school. Pupils are prepared for 13+ Common Entrance and the school has achieved a 100% pass rate over many years. The school has one of the ultimate prep school settings and offers over 60 extra-curricular activities, including sailing on the school’s lakes and riding in the on-site equestrian centre.
The Walhampton Express train service brings this remarkable country school closer to London. Boarding staff collect children from Waterloo on Sunday evening and escort them back to Waterloo on Friday for about 6pm. Full, weekly and flexi-boarders enjoy the relaxed and homely atmosphere of Bradfield House. Flexi-boarding enables children to enjoy all that the school has to offer, while supporting families with busy lives.
Over the last five years pupils from Walhampton have gone on to the following schools Bryanston, Canford, Clayesmore, Eton, Godolphin, King’s Bruton, King Edward VI, Marlborough, Radley, Sherborne, St Swithun’s and Winchester.
The school’s location and facilities enable them to offer a broad and dynamic curriculum, which stretches beyond the classroom. Lessons are taught in the kitchen garden, fields and woodland bringing subjects like Maths, English, History and Science to life while making sure sports, music and the arts flourish alongside academic disciplines. In how many other schools would you find the Battles of Trafalgar staged on a lake, or Hastings re-enacted with children in armour on horses?
A warm welcome awaits you at the 2019 open mornings which are on 1st February and 3rd May - contact the School Registrar on 01590 613 303 or at firstname.lastname@example.org to make an appointment.
