Vinehall is a day and full boarding prep school for girls and boys aged 2-13. Situated on the Kent/East Sussex border, the school is nestled within 47 acres of stunning rural countryside which lays the foundation for the wonderful experiences the children have both inside and outside the classroom.
Renowned for its excellent facilities including indoor pool, state of the art theatre and extensive music school, Vinehall also encourages outdoor pursuits and benefits from a 9 hole golf course, mountain bike trail, fishing lake and forest learning facilities.
Teaching at Vinehall is founded on adventurous learning and stimulating themes. We encourage an enthusiasm for learning by offering a broad, balanced and creative curriculum. The children enjoy a rich learning experience which is fun and full of exciting activities. The children head outdoors at every opportunity for gardening, beekeeping, cooking on the campfire plus use of our wonderful woodland and outdoor learning facilities.
Vinehall truly believes in promoting caring, rounded individuals ready to move on to the next stage in their lives. Children are encouraged to participate in the extensive enrichment programme of clubs and extra-curricular activities on offer after school and on Saturday mornings, which include life skills such as cookery and critical thinking alongside sports and scholarship support.
The scholarship programme at the School works to enhance talents shown by the children during their time here and also to prepare them for scholarship exams at their chosen 13 plus senior schools. Children awarded a scholarship receive financial support in the form of discounted fees (which are non means tested) and also additional support and coaching in their area of strength.
Vinehall always has great academic ambitions for its pupils, working with families and pupils to gain entrance to their senior schools of choice. The school has seen a rising trend in scholarship places to Tonbridge, Winchester, Benenden, Brighton and King's Canterbury to name a few of the Senior Schools. Vinehall pupils move on to typically around sixteen different senior schools each year.
Sport, Music and Art feature very highly in the list of school achievements with many national accolades in Athletics, Swimming and Gymnastics. Music is prevalent with most children learning at least one instrument and all children sing in the Junior or Senior Choir.
The school has a strong belief in helping children find their own confidence and encourages participation in the numerous stage productions and musicals performed throughout the school year. The Year 8 Leavers complete their time at Vinehall with a musical extravaganza, which in the past has included The Wizard of Oz, Bugsy Malone and Guys & Dolls.
Vinehall has a thriving boarding community where children are able to board on a full or part time basis and are often joined by day pupils choosing to flexi board due to the delightful and fun atmosphere. Boarders stay in small dorms and are able to personalise their own spaces, which creates that all important home-from-home feeling and are escorted to and from school on exeat weekends and holidays back to London or to their guardians.
The Vinehall boarding provision was recently rated as Outstanding in all areas in the ISI Boarding Inspection Report in January 2015.
The school offers an extensive Minibus service both to and from school on a permanent or ad hoc basis. Minibuses run every morning and afternoon, Monday to Friday (apart from Wednesday afternoons) and routes can be altered and/or added depending on demand to accommodate families wishing to use the service.
