Shaping the Future of Prep School Education
- individuality and the freedom of childhood
- the best traditions of British primary education
- delivering exceptional academic teaching and pastoral care as a family of schools
That’s our ethos here at the Cothill Trust.
Our six prep schools all boast idyllic rural settings to enjoy the best of the English outdoors,
not to mention the majestic Château de Sauveterre in the South of France where some of our pupils spend a term immersed in French language and culture.
Each school has its own unique personality but all our schools share consistent values: putting our pupils first; performing to the highest standards; pooling our strengths to collaborate and achieve more; innovating by anticipating change and adapting to it; and looking beyond the school gates to serve the wider local communities.
Most importantly, we prioritise the development of our pupils, aged 2-13, treating every one of the 1,250 children as individuals.
Reassurance & results
- Sharing best professional practices
- Adopting new ideas and educational standards
- Realising financial efficiencies across our schools
With an annual turnover of over £20m and £1m capital expenditure, we run a secure and successful organisation. We deliver the results that matter: our pupils leave us to attend over 47 leading independent senior schools in the UK. That means we offer a gateway into the country’s best educational establishments, depending, of course, on what is most suitable for each individual child. Perhaps that’s why 25% of our boarders now join us from overseas. And why 25% of our leaving pupils win scholarships.
Did you realise that the Cothill Trust is the only prep school Trust of a similar scale that operates as an educational charity? It’s something we’re immensely proud of. Because, as a non-profit organisation, this means all our funds are reinvested back into our schools – to benefit our pupils.
As dedicated educators, our shared resources mean we can create engaging curriculums and inspiring programmes where colleagues learn and develop their careers. In addition, we have access to a deep pool of specialist expertise – both internally and externally. With Tom Beardmore-Gray, our Chief Executive at the helm, the Trust is now ambitious to expand beyond existing boundaries.
