Understanding how to navigate the 11+, pre-test and 13+ systems is a minefield for many. Are pressurized prep schools and tutoring the only ways to succeed? This talk will provide you with the complete picture on how to navigate the world’s most competitive and complicated system.

Speakers:

Martin Baker2

Martin Barker, Headmaster, Westbourne House School

Martin Barker is a graduate of Exeter University and started his teaching career at a small independent school in London.  After four years, he moved on to spend 12 years at Papplewick Prep School in Ascot, fulfilling various roles including Director of Sport, Head of Science and, latterly, Deputy Head. He moved on to Westbourne House School in Chichester, a co-ed Prep School for 400 pupils, in 2006, firstly as Deputy Head and, since, 2011 as Head. The school has just had one of its most successful years, achieving an incredible 46 awards and scholarships to schools all across the South East.

Oliver Snowball

Oliver Snowball, Headmaster of Eaton House The Manor Girls' School

Oliver is an experienced Headmaster who is a former Deputy Headmaster at Kent College. He feels that an outstanding education prioritises the development of two qualities: a lifelong love of learning and a deep-rooted respect for people and places.

He wants the girls to have an 'adventure at school' and for each of them to feel they are known, nurtured, encouraged and challenged. Thus, in the classroom, the girls flourish without the pressures of any gender stereotyping and are able to grab the opportunities presented to them.
